August

8/28 Flying 5K, 10K Run/Walk: South Lake Tahoe. 5k run as part of the "Lake In The Sky Airshow". Then stay for the Biggest Little Airshow West of the Mississippi. Medals for the top winners with t-shirts for all paid entrants. Kids fun run to follow. Course starts and end on the taxi way most of the course meanders on trails and through meadows along the Lower Truckee River and meadows. For more info go to www.flying5k.com

8/29 Salt Point Trail Run: Salt Point State Park, near Jenner. 9 Km, 15 Km, 26 Km & 50 Km. Aid stations every 8 - 9 km. stocked w/fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes and salt, water, and sports drink. If you would like to be sure that you have Clif product, SaltStick capsules, or any other specific item at the event, you should carry it with you. Additionally, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations. Pre-reg.: 9 Km, $30; 15 Km, $35; 26 Km - $40; 50 km, $55, by 8/22. 9/4 10K on the Bay: Hayward. Run or walk along the Bay Trail and enjoy breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay-Estuary. Both races are on a gravel/packed dirt trail and as flat as it gets along the beautiful shoreline. There will be prizes for the first-place winners (male and female) of each race and ribbons for each age group winners. Walkers are welcomed (and encouraged to participate!) but unfortunately dogs cannot be allowed. For more info, go to www.10KontheBay.org

9/6 Pescadero 5K, 10K run/walk: Also, free 1-2 mi. kids run. Native Son's Hall. Flat out-and-back course. Pre-reg.: $20 by 9/6; $25, race day. Fee includes t-shirt & age division awards. 9/6 Golden Valley Harriers Running Club Labor Day Race: Davis Commons Shopping Ctr, Davis. 5K, 10K races & 1K kid's race. The course winds through flat & fast greenbelts and bike paths around Davis. For more info, go to goldenvalleyharriers.org

9/18 Back to School Scholarship Run: Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, Pleasanton. A 5K, 10K loop along scenic fireroad trails. Pre-reg.: $30 by 9/15; $35 day of the event. 1-Mi. Kids run, $5 by 9/15; $7, day of. Fee includes the famous monster goodie bag, prizes, t-shirt, refreshments, awards. 9/25 Salmon Run: 5K/10K and FREE Kids 1/2-Mile Fun Run. Riverbend Park, Oroville. Follow the Salmon on their upstream journey on the undulating terrain of the Feather River Trail from Riverbend Park towards the Fish Hatchery. Course is closed to traffic and paved except a small portion of the 10k course. USATF-sanctioned. Awards 3 deep in 10-year age groups, post race food and drinks. Upgrade to a technical tee for $10. All participants in the Kid's Fun Run will receive a finisher's ribbon. Kid's shirts will be available for sale on race day. 9/25 Fall Showdown: El Sobrante. 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon. All the courses are out-and-back. The half marathon has 30% pavement (the rest on trails), with loads of scenery. Start site is located on Old San Pablo Dam Rd. It runs parallel with the entire Watershed area known as the San Pablo Reservoir. For more info, go to Wolf Pack Events, www.wolfpackevents.com

9/26 The 15th Annual Lake Tahoe Marathon: Marathon, 20 Miler, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Runs. Marathon relays for 2 or 5 person teams. Also, ultra events that include: Tahoe Triple Marathon, 72 Mile Ultra, Tahoe Super Triple (26.2 + 26.2 + 72.2), Tahoe Double Dare ( 2 x 72miles). Fee includes Wind Shirts and finishers medal for all participants. Food provided after the runs at Pope Beach. Awards and license plate holders for time achievements met. 9/4 5th Annual Kevin Cook Spirit 5K run & walk: Mile Square Park, Fountain Valley. Course is mostly paved walkways, some grass, mostly flat with a few small dips. NOT wheelchair accessible. Event will occur rain or shine. Team discounts available! $100 Cash prize to overall M & F winners. Start on Euclid, between Edinger & Warner.
